It usually came up after changing my iCloud password, and having some other computers or iOS devices logged in to iCloud. Just needed to change everything to the same new password, and all was good.<\/p>\n
But today that didn\u2019t work, and I couldn\u2019t figure it out\u2026 until I remembered that Apple has implemented \u201cper-app\u201d iCloud passwords.<\/p>\n
Now if you\u2019ll look at that quote above, you\u2019ll see that it does NOT say \u201cApplication \u201cXYXZ\u201d is trying to use iCloud. You\u2019ll need to generate a new one.”<\/p>\n
Nope: it simply says that the password for my own iCloud account is incorrect. \u00a0But that\u2019s not true. The password for my basic iCloud account IScorrect ! \u00a0I\u2019m left to figure out not only that it\u2019s an app\/iCloud problem, but I have to figure out which\u00a0app as well.<\/p>\n
In my case, it was Fantastical. And not Fantastical per se, but “p18-caldav.icloud.com.\u201d \u00a0Yeah. How\u2019s Joe SixPak gonna figure that out?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s simple enough to do, although you might be mystified that making an \u201capp-specific\u201d password does not ask you which specific app ! \u00a0It just generates a password, and you use it in whatever app is complaining at the time.

I suggest you both check the box saying you want it remembered in your keychain, and also keep a note to yourself of the password itself and where you used it.
I fixed it on one machine by using Keychain Access, and searching on \u201ccaldav\u201d and replacing the old password with the new one. On my laptop, I just entered the new password when I got the misleading popup.<\/p>\n
Perhaps this was\/is completely obvious to everyone except me, but in case there\u2019s someone else out there with the same problem, well\u2026 there\u2019s the solution.<\/p>\n
