{"id":425,"date":"2021-05-08T22:09:23","date_gmt":"2021-05-08T22:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.valleau.art\/blog\/?p=425"},"modified":"2021-05-09T17:01:11","modified_gmt":"2021-05-09T17:01:11","slug":"organizing-your-dock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valleau.art\/blog\/organizing-your-dock\/","title":{"rendered":"Organizing your Dock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got a zillion itty-bitty icons in your dock?<\/p>\n<p>Try grouping them.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what I do.<\/p>\n<p>In my user folder, I have created a folder called &#8220;dock items&#8221; (the name is not important; whatever works for you is fine.)<\/p>\n<p>Then, in there, I have folders named for my categories of items, such as &#8220;browsers&#8221; and &#8220;hardware&#8221; and &#8220;art&#8221; and &#8220;utilities&#8221; and so on.<\/p>\n<p>What I do is put an alias to the program in the appropriate folder.<\/p>\n<p>And then I move the folder to my dock.<\/p>\n<p>You can move the &#8220;dock items&#8221; folder itself, or you can move the category folders to the dock, whichever works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>Tip: to fill these category folders from your current dock icons, control click on the icon in the dock, and choose &#8220;options\/show in finder&#8221;. Then command-option drag the application to the folder.
