The image is dark because raw images are 1.0 gamma aka &#8220;linear gamma&#8221;. In other words, there&#8217;s nothing wrong with the DNG; it&#8217;s supposed to look like that.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to adjust Lightroom so that you can easily fix it with a single button click.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To fix the issue, don&#8217;t try to correct it in the library. Just do the following 5 steps one-time and LR will be ready to \u00a0go for your shiny new iPhone:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Do all 5 of \u00a0these steps:<\/p>\n<p>1.  Select one of those dark DNG image thumbnails in the libarary<br \/>2. click on Develop<br \/>3. change the Profile to Apple ProRaw. \u00a0(bingo!)<br \/>4. go to the develop menu in the main menu bar and choose &#8220;New Preset&#8221;<br \/>5. save it with a memorable name, like &#8220;my ProRaw&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Done.<\/p>\n<p>From now on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; when you load a ProRaw DNG into the library, simply choose &#8220;my ProRaw&#8221; from the &#8220;Saved Preset&#8221; menu in Quick Develop.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>HTH<\/p>\n<p>Tracy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some folks think that because when a 48 MP DNG is loaded into Lightroom, and it&#8217;s all extremely dark, that&#8217;s because it&#8217;s underexposed.
