Some folks think that because when a 48 MP DNG is loaded into Lightroom, and it’s all extremely dark, that’s because it’s underexposed.<\/p>\n
Nope. The image is dark because raw images are 1.0 gamma aka “linear gamma”. In other words, there’s nothing wrong with the DNG; it’s supposed to look like that.<\/p>\n
Here’s how to adjust Lightroom so that you can easily fix it with a single button click.\u00a0<\/p>\n
To fix the issue, don’t try to correct it in the library. Just do the following 5 steps one-time and LR will be ready to \u00a0go for your shiny new iPhone:<\/p>\n

Do all 5 of \u00a0these steps:<\/p>\n
1. Select one of those dark DNG image thumbnails in the libarary
2. click on Develop
3. change the Profile to Apple ProRaw. \u00a0(bingo!)
4. go to the develop menu in the main menu bar and choose “New Preset”
5. save it with a memorable name, like “my ProRaw”.<\/p>\n
Done.<\/p>\n
From now on…<\/p>\n
… when you load a ProRaw DNG into the library, simply choose “my ProRaw” from the “Saved Preset” menu in Quick Develop.<\/p>\n
