Printing a printer profile target on OS X.

Most of you know that it’s not any longer conveniently possible to print a file with absolutely NO color management tweaking the colors. Between Apple, Adobe and Epson, there just isn’t a simple and obvious way to print out a sample target for reading with your ColorMunki or i1 Photo Pro.

There are three, in fact.

One is well-known: get Adobe’s Color Printer Utility, which is free from them at:

The next is to purchase Print Tool, a wonderful RIP that only costs $50:

And the final one (which is often overlooked) is to use Apple’s own ColorSync Utility (in the utilities folder).

Choose file/open and open the target file. Choose print, and from the Color: popup menu choose print as color target.
